Wellington, New Zealand

A walk through the central district of Wellington in 2180 reveals breathtaking views overlooking the Ngauranga Gorge. The radial design of Wellington puts the central public and commercial spaces on the mountaintops and connects them to the residential neighborhoods below. A series of long bridges span the surrounding valleys, linking adjacent neighborhoods like a series of connected islands. The Landscrapers, megastructures with large footprints, serve as an integrated eco-system, with a green facade and vertical farming at the core plunging deep into the ground. The core utilizes a fiber optic lighting system to provide concentrated sunlight to both plant life and human inhabitants.
